Rogil Birco - Flute, Recorder

San Francisco native Rogil Birco is excited and honored to be a part of this unique CD project which is ultimately a music ministry in its own right. He is currently organist of the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi, and pianist/ flutist of Old St. Mary's Cathedral, both in San Francisco. He is musical assistant to Juan Pedro Gaffney of the Coro Hispano de San Francisco, where he wears many hats, sometimes accompanying on keyboard, singing in the choir, performing on flute or recorder, and transcribing/ typesetting some of Coro's repertoire. Rogil graduated from SF State University with a B.A. in German (2006) and B.A. in Music (2007). He is currently in his 2nd year of graduate studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies in SF pursuing an M.A. in Expressive Arts Therapy. Rogil is one of 11 recent winners of the 2011 American Guild of Organists Region IV organ composition competition. The winners' works will be performed next year in the AGO Region IV convention in North Carolina, and will also be published by Wayne Leupold Editions, Inc., in an organ anthology titled The Greensboro Collection.
